A journey to 'The Unknown Land'

Professor Philip Burton at UIC, in our first class in graduate school, asked us to write a short essay on a recent journey. I wrote it on my journey to Chicago from the motherland, Bangladesh. Second Phase was to reflect the mood of text and experience by using only series of abstract typographic explorations. Together, 'riverine motherland', 'diverse cultural milieu' and 'contrasting urbanity' in Chicago city was represented by the hands-on process of rigorous compositions and intuitive
experiments with letterpress printing .
